Club Social

The club's annual social event is is set for Wednesday, November 12th at 7 p.m., upstairs at the Albion!

Come out and enjoy a selection of free food, a cash bar, and conversation. There will also be club awards, as well as random draw prizes for some great merchandise.

There's no cost but we'd like you to RSVP. Send an email to rsvp@speedrivercyclingclub.org if you plan to attend.

One of the club's traditions is the dishing out of some hardware. This season, we're asking our members for nominations in five categories – email them to drew@speedrivercyclingclub.org – and then we'll allow club members to vote for the nominees on the club website.
We're looking for nominees for:
1) Best male rider
2) Best female rider
3) Most improved rider
4) Community Spirit and Team Player Award
5) Rider Most Likely to Offer Roadside Assistance

Submit your nominations by Thursday, October 30. Voting will commence on November 1 and close on Nov. 11th. And just a note: winners must attend social, otherwise we give it to next placed finisher.

Club rides done for 2014

So that's a wrap for SRCC official club rides for 2014! Thanks to all of our members for a great and memorable year.

Sunday Oct. 26 ride | 11am

The last club ride of 2014. Other non-club rides may be posted in the forum, so keep an eye out there. We'll do the "Fall Colours" ride, 95k, breifly stopping in Campbellville.

The club social is coming up, as well as club kit pre-orders. We'll be running an indoor trainer session again in January, details to follow (alternatively, the Milton Velodrome is opening soon). Have a great remainder of the year!

 

Sunday Ride October 19th - 11:00am

Those braving the cold and wind can join the ride through Eden Mills, Fergus, a stop in Elora, and then a nice tailwind to bring us home! Will be cold out so dress accordingly!

October 12 Sunday Ride to Cafe Domestique 11:00 AM

Let's head to the Domestique at least one more time before the snow flies. Ride up an appetite and enjoy Thanksgiving with loved ones.

Sunday, October 5 ride | 11:00 A.M. START

Sunday looks to be coolish, but with a bit of sun to warm the skin. With winds forecasted out of the west, we'll head to the rolling, country roads of the Waterloo Region. There will be a snack and refuel stop in Elmira, with options for donuts, espresso and pastries, before we ride the Fall westerlies home. Take note of the 11:00 am start. 

Sunday Sept. 28 ride: 11am start time!

Please note the new 11am start time for the remaining Sunday rides.

Update:  A slight change to the route to swap in some nicer roads.  We'll take Sideroad 25 south to Gore Rd and then Valens Rd all the way to Concession 5W.  Map has been updated.

Southerly loop down Valens Rd, through Millgrove and along Cedar Springs, with a refueling stop at the Kilbride convenience store. We'll head back via McNiven and 2nd Line. Should be a nice day to check out some early fall colours.  And don't forget... 11am start time.

Sunday Sept 21st ride | 9am

Radar appears to be clearing, ride is on. Only one ride on Sundays for the rest of the year, the shorter rides will be back next year. Next week's Sunday ride will start at 11am.

Something a bit different. We'll stop in Elmira on the way back.

Unofficial weeknight rides

For people who can make it we will still be meeting at the library for rides weather permitting Tuesday's and Thursday's at 5:30. Please note these are not club rides without a preplanned route that we will decide on the night. Please check the forums on the day for an update on the rides in the non club rides section. Regarding this Tuesday Aaron has suggested in the forum that we will be head out to Guelph lake for loops. Meeting at the library at 5:30. Cory

Weekday rides finished, Sunday rides continue into October

A reminder that the weekday rides are done for 2014, but we will still have Sunday rides going for another 6 weeks. The last 5 will start at 11am, and will likely be a bit shorter. Head to the forum to post or look for non-club rides as well.
